This tranquil scene is Bahia Santa Maria showing an overall view of the bay with the brown cliffs that protect it.
This article was first published in the Sep/Oct 1997 issue of CLUBMEX. Located at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez converge, starts an area known as the Corridor. The Corridor is a thirty-kilometer strip of land stretching from Cabo San Lucas to San José del Cabo. Nestled in the many bays and coves of the Corridor is a string of eighteen beaches, each possessing its own amenities and traits. This article highlights six of the more popular ones. Starting at the Marina in Cabo San Lucas is the Playa El Médano ("Dune Beach"). This is the beach to see people and to be seen. Although dozens of scantily-clad tanned bodies occupy the beach, it feels uncrowded. This beach has it all: palapa bars and restaurants, bathrooms, showers and water sport rental equipment.
